7 Fun Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day for Single Women

February 10, 2020 | by Shanté Grossett O'Neal Christian Living

Valentine’s Day is a beautiful holiday celebrating love and friendship. Since Valentine’s Day tends to emphasize romantic love and relationships, single women and men can feel left out. However, everyone can appreciate celebrating the blessing of love, friendship, and relationships even if they don’t have a significant other. In fact, here are seven ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day for single women. Enjoy!

Grab a friend and have a dinner date

Call a friend and go out to dinner together. Who says you can only go out on Valentine’s Day if you’re in a relationship? Friends deserve to be appreciated too. Maybe you can meet up with a friend you haven’t seen or heard from in a while and catch up on life. Let her know how much you enjoy her friendship and uplift each other with encouraging words. No need to stay in on Valentine’s Day just because you’re single!

Send Handwritten Letters

Photo of handwritten letters

The art of writing handwritten letters does not have to die out with our generation. We can and should revive it! Last year, I sent handwritten letters to some of my followers on social media. They were really fun to write and it was great to see how a few words could potentially change someone’s entire day. Handwritten letters are extra special because they’re pretty rare. We’re so used to texting, DMing, and occasionally picking up the phone to communicate. It means a lot to receive a handwritten letter from a friend. It really shows they care.

Buy delicious candy on sale

Photo of valentine's day candy

One of my favorite things about Valentine’s Day is the candy. I love chocolate. Candy is always on sale around Valentine’s Day. You can get some of the best chocolate for really low prices if you wait to buy them around February 14th. If you’ve been eyeing something, definitely head to the store on Valentine’s Day to stock up.

Host a tea party in your living room

This sounds really fun and I hope to do it one year. Why not host a brunch-styled tea party in your living room? Invite your friends over and drink your favorite tea, eat breakfast food, and enjoy each other’s company. I have a subscription with Sips By, a monthly tea subscription service. This month they sent me their Galentine’s Day box, specifically for tea parties! Check it out here.

Volunteer or give back to someone in need

Another great way to spend Valentine’s Day if you’re single is by volunteering. There are so many people in need of help and if you have the time, it would be kind to serve them. It might be tempting to want to be alone on Valentine’s Day if you really don’t enjoy the holiday, but instead of being alone, go out and help someone else. It might even cheer you up!

Get yourself some flowers

No, you don’t have to wait for someone to buy you flowers. If you want them, get them. I personally love having fresh flowers in my room, regardless of the time of year. It reminds me of spring and I think they’re beautiful. If you really like flowers, get some to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

Stay in and watch a good movie

If you want to, you can stay in and watch a good movie. Invite some friends, grab some popcorn, and watch your favorite movie.

You don’t have to be in a relationship to enjoy Valentine’s Day. It’s for everyone and all of us can celebrate. Do you have any fun ways to spend Valentine’s Day if you’re single? If you do, share them below.

Prayer is one of the ways in which we connect with Prayer is one of the ways in which we connect with and hear from God. Yet, approaching God in prayer can feel daunting.

The good news is that Jesus taught us how to pray.

Consider applying the Lord’s Prayer as you structure your prayer time.

Thomas often gets a bad rap in church history. He’s forever known as “doubting Thomas.” I find that humorous because Thomas did what most of us would have done in the situation. He wanted to see for himself that Jesus had truly resurrected from the grave.

Jesus was kind to Thomas. He paid a visit to the house Thomas and the other disciples were in, and he showed Thomas the scars in his hands and in his side.

In John 20:27, Jesus says, “Stop doubting and believe.”

I imagine that his voice was kind and tender. After showing Thomas the evidence, he invited him to believe.

Doubting doesn’t make you a bad Christian. Doubting is human, and like Thomas, God meets us in our doubt. He does not scoff at us or turn us away, he simply reminds us of the truth.

Isn’t that such a beautiful thing?

I’m still figuring out how to keep plants alive. I’m still figuring out how to keep plants alive. I love them but they don’t always love me. 😅

The other day, my mom advised me to prune away the dead and wilted flowers of my Kalanchoe plant. It had been doing okay for a while but lately, it began to not look so great.

Of course, this reminded me of how God is with us as Christians. Pruning is an important part of our sanctification process.

Jesus tells us that God prunes us so that we can bear more fruit. Ultimately, without pruning, our spiritual lives wither and eventually die. If this happens, how can we abide in Christ?

Pruning can be painful, but God doesn’t prune us to harm us — he does it for our growth. He loves us. And the pruning won’t last forever, this is only a season.

P.P.S — when I say unmet needs, I am referring to things that are really important and feel like ultimate needs. I believe that God does supply all of our needs (but not necessarily the things we feel are needs).
